SHAUN OF THE DEAD- Film Review

“In a time of crisis a hero must rise...from his sofa.”

29 year old Shaun (Simon Pegg) is having problems in his already very pathetic life. His girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield) has dumped him because of their daily expedition to Shaun's favorite pub, the Winchester. His job isn't going well at Foree Electronics, with his subordinates not acting like his… well, subordinates. His flatmates’ relationship, Pete (Peter Serafinowicz) and his best friend Ed (Nick Frost) couldn’t be worse. Oh yeah, and London is being attacked by flesh-eating zombies. Facing this menace, Shaun must now save himself, Ed, his ex, his mom… and everyone else that gets in his way.

Personally I didn’t really enjoy the film, especially because it doesn’t quite fit anywhere in the usual movie categories. It’s definitely too stupid to be a true zombie flick, but it’s not that stupid to be a spoof. Some of the actors are really god (such as Pegg and Frost) and the plot itself isn’t that bad. Except for the ending, the rescuing scene, which doesn’t really makes sense because it seems like a fast and easy way to make the zombie problem disappear. Also, the fact that in the middle of all the gore, silliness and comedy are some pseudo dramatic scenes only helps making the audience even more confused.

Anyway, if you like blood, zombies, British humour (probably the best part of the film)
And if you don’t mind the fact that “Shaun” release would surely make George A. Romero roll over in his grave, (if he was, of course, dead) then, your taste in matter of cinema scares me.

And this film is the perfect choice for you.
